Nakedness
of life-
When I am naked I have nothing to hide. I am naked. So my
mind is in forward mode to discover clothing. Why do we rush to clothe ourselves?
Because we have been enculturated through association, assimilation &
imitation of learning that naked is not ‘beautiful’. Psychology asserts that If
men, however, were exposed to nudity on a normal, everyday basis, they wouldn’t
fantasize and obsess over it the way 14-year-olds do at the sight of their
first breast. In semiarid Northern Kenya there is a Turkana nomadic tribe they
go about their daily business scantily dressed or stay with no clothes at all.
This has been part of their culture from time immemorial. I have witnessed of
late modern non-profit organization rushing to fundraise for clothing for ‘Turkana
people nakedness” incognizant that for ages they have ‘happily’ thrived in an astronomical
range of high temperatures thus they have learnt how to survive where no one
can ‘live’. Researches indicate that rape cases are
minimal in this community as well as sexual pervertism. According to Dr. Conrad
Manning in his paper “Virtues of Nakedness: Physical & Psychological
Health,” “By making nakedness an ordinary, matter-of-fact, common experience,
unassociated with sexuality, the unhealthy prurient interest in pornography
would be considerably lessened. When
clothes come off stigma and taboos melt away, there is nothing to hide or be ashamed
of what we already know as Nakedness.
In
my socio-anthropological view, clothing projects discernment or yearning for
answers in life. To achieve your dreams you must be naked first. Born we were
born in this world naked. We did not own or ware anything apart from naked
truth. We’ve got to remove all the layers of fake clothing we have amassed for
years. Some of the clothes of life we ware are not even ours, much we have borrowed,
imitated (copied) begged, snatched (talking about envy & corruption of soul)
thus “Nguo ya Kuazima haistiri makalio”. A Swahili saying ..Translated as to
borrowed clothes do no cover your behind.
That’s
why we shall always risk to cross dangerous rivers infested with crocodiles, deserts
with poisonous snakes and battles zones littered with dry bones in search of
own nakedness. And when we find it we must spend years clothing it with the
correct size and shades of colours as surely it may be. The moment we achieve our nakedness we die,
later we can resurrect in truth. You ask why so soon the reason they will cover
your body with cloth when you die? Because they have already seen your naked
truth with their naked eyes. They are scared the sites and calmness of pretense
you lived while on mother earth might blind their unbaked lies of truth before they
dispose your naked body of. We will all
leave our naked truth behind as we soulfully fly away. The world, you will soon
realize it’s not fare because they will bury or burn your naked truth and you
are quickly forgotten. Next! Because naked truth is too hard to bare.
